Hip Bath
Hip Bath is a hydro-therapeutic measure where person is made to sit in a hip bath tub and water is filled up to the navel region. Other body part are kept dry. Feet rest on the stool. Special tub or large basin is used for hip bath. Its mainly administered for improvement of digestion, excretion, in gynecological and urinary problems hip bath is beneficial. Cold water, warm water is used depending upon the clinical condition.
Uses – Useful in Indigestion, Gas Formation, Hyperacidity, Constipation, Piles, Impotency, Menstrual Disorders, Sterility, Obesity and Diabetes.
Cold hip bath
Duration – 5 to 10 mins
Indications – constipation, weak bowel muscles, hepatic or splenic congestions & enlargements, chronic pelvic inflammations, congestions of brain, urinary incontinence, chronic uterine affections, chronic congestion of prostate, tonic seminal weakness, atony of bladder, uterine & ovarian displacements, dilatation of stomach &colon.
Contra indications – acute pelvic or abdominal inflammations, painful or spasmodic affections of bladder or genital organs, neuralgia of ovaries or testicles, tenesmus of bladder or rectum, vaginismus, sciatica, pulmonary congestion.
Hot hip bath
Duration – 3 to 10 mins
Indications – painful menstruation, painful urination, pain in pelvic organs, pain of inflamed rectum or bladder. Pain of piles, difficult urination with enlarged prostate, vaginismus, spasm of neck of bladder, tenesmus, uterine colic, nephritic colic, sciatica, lumbo abdominal neuralgia, neuralgia of testicles, ovaries & bladder, non inflammatory affections of viscera’s of pelvic & lower abdomen.
Contra indications – bleeding piles, severe disc herniation, severe sciatic pain.
Neutral hip bath
Duration – 15 to 30 mins
Indications – sub acute inflammations of bladder, urethra, uterus & tubes, neuralgia of fallopian tubes & testicles, vaginismus, pruritis of vagina & vulva, vesical &rectal tenesmus, hyperesthesia of lumbo aortic plexus& genito urinary organs.
